The service life of rechargeable batteries used, for example, in consumer electronics is adversely affected by low discharge currents, which directly reduce the battery performance, so their use in remote controls, for example, may not be cost-efficient. Their charging process (the charging current and time) also has a similar impact on rechargeable battery life. For safety’s sake, one of the simpler ways is to use microchip-controlled chargers that optimally regulate the battery charging parameters.
